“He called me back at 1 and said he found out about it a half hour before I did,” Fenney said.
“He told me it started out as a normal day. He got up, wrote the show, and then he got the phone call saying it was all over and that they were going to announce it,” Fenney continued.
“He was pretty shocked. He asked them why and they wouldn’t give him a reason," he added.

The report from his neighbor comes after Carlson shared his first video following his Fox News ousting which quickly turned viral.
"A short video message posted online by former Fox News host Tucker Carlson following his ouster from the network had racked up more than 57 million views on Twitter as of Thursday afternoon," The Hill reported.
"Carlson’s cryptic two-minute message was posted around 8 p.m. Wednesday. He did not directly address his sudden departure from the network or plans for the future," it added.

In addition, the slot when Carlson's show usually aired has taken a massive rating hit on Fox News. His Wednesday time reportedly had just over 1 million viewers, while his previous week had over 3 million.
The network is currently rotating its other hosts as it makes long-term plans for what is next in Carlson's time slot. Rumors have speculated that a current host such as Jesse Watters or Laura Ingraham could take the spot.
The controversial departure comes just after a settlement between Fox and Dominion Voting Systems over defamation claims following the 2020 election. Fellow Fox News host Dan Bongino also parted ways with the network just days before Carlson.
The latest news from Carlson's neighbor reveals that the news was sudden, leaving him no time to prepare as the network sought to limit any potential concerns with a final episode or a longer wrap-up of the popular Fox News program.
