Former President Donald Trump criticized Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, according to a new book coming out about the former president.
New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman's upcoming title "Confidence Man" The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America," included quotes from an interview with Trump.

"The 45th president called the Florida governor 'fat,' 'phony,' and 'whiny' when Haberman asked about him during a meeting late this summer at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey. It is not clear if Trump offers additional disparaging remarks about DeSantis that are documented in the book and not the Atlantic article," the Washington Examiner reported.
"Trump's comments were made around the same time as news emerged that DeSantis had raised more money since January of last year than himself or President Joe Biden," it added.

The attacks offer a contrast with Trump's previous support of DeSantis in leading Florida during the pandemic.
The words may be taken with some caution, however, as writers for the Times have not been the best in fairly representing Trump or other conservatives.
