California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom is now playing the long game, clearly working his way up to announcing that he will run for president in 2028.
Newsom has been moving away from the Democrat agenda, and now he has made an immigration announcement that has everyone floored.
So, before I get into this report, let me say that I don’t trust Newsom as far as I can throw him, and that would not be very far. This man will do and say anything to keep that government paycheck rolling in, and I believe that is what he is doing now.
To that point, while most Democrats are digging in on their agenda, Newsom got the memo and is pushing back against some key Democrat policies, such as transgenders in women’s sports.
Newsom called out the party recently, stating, "These guys are crushing us. The Democratic brand is toxic right now. Democrats, we tend to be a little more judgmental than we should be — this notion of cancel culture."
That is what I believe truly cost Democrats in 2024, as they were telling voters what they needed to do rather than listening to their concerns.
Newsom recently got some Democrats' backs up over his comments about working with Donald Trump and his administration.
Newsom posted, "@KamalaHarris set out to fight to defend our fundamental freedoms and build a country that works for everyone. She stood up for working families, decency, and opportunity."
"California will seek to work with the incoming president – but let there be no mistake, we intend to stand with states across our nation to defend our Constitution and uphold the rule of law."
Even though his cooperation came with a qualifier, it was a far different tone than most other Democrats were putting out publicly.
The latest bombshell from the Newsom camp came this week, when the governor’s office stated that it would comply with ICE.
This was in relation to an illegal immigrant who was set to be released on July 19, with Newsom’s office stating, "After being deported in 2013, this individual unlawfully re-entered the US & committed heinous crimes.
“A GOP DA then gave him a plea deal instead of pursuing 2nd-degree murder. CDCR will again coordinate with ICE—as they have w/ 10,000+ inmates—to transfer him before release.”
Notice how he still had to take a shot at the GOP, as nothing is ever free with this man. I am warning everyone, Newsom is right there with Vivek Ramaswamy in terms of being a snake-oil salesman, as he cannot be trusted. I believe he will be among the top three candidates in the field come 2028, and he is making all kinds of moves right now to lure in more moderate voters… you have been warned.
