Vice President Kamala Harris struggled to name any of her actual duties when asked by Stephen Colbert on the "Late Show" Wednesday, the Daily Wire reported. Her rambling answer once again underscored her uselessness.
During her appearance, the leftist-friendly Colbert lobbed her a series of softballs. The easiest of them all was telling America what exactly she contributes to the nation, and she failed miserably.
"One of the themes of the show [Veep] is that her character, Selina Meyer, is frustrated by the sometimes vague duties of the role," Colbert set up the question. "It’s a high constitutional office, but does not describe what you’re supposed to be doing," he added.
"Does that ring true? Like, what’s the actual role on a daily basis as you have found it?" Colbert asked her.
"Well, I have the great privilege of serving with Joe Biden, who is the President of the United States," Harris replied, stating the obvious. Colbert pushed further.
“Does he understand what it’s like to be vice president?” Colbert shot back. Although it was a joke, he inadvertently reminded the audience that the president is not the sharpest these days.
"He does, he does," Harris said. “He really is a true partner and he understands that job," she claimed.
The vice president continued with her non-answer before setting on the idea that Biden is an “extraordinary leader. He really is."
Surprisingly, Colbert would not let go of his line of questioning. "That’s an excellent answer and the question was, what’s the job of the vice president … and your answer is part of the job, I’m guessing?"
The office of vice president is typically unimportant unless something happens to the president, so it's not surprising that Harris didn't have an answer besides her ancillary role. Still, the least of what a vice president needs to be is a net neutral.
Unfortunately, Harris has been a drag on Biden and the Democrats because she is unlikeable and incompetent. Before she became Biden's running mate, Harris had already crashed and burned in her own bid for the Democratic nomination in 2020, Reason Magazine noted.
As his vice president, Harris has had a difficult time dealing with any task she's been publicly trusted with solving. As the so-called border tsar, Harris failed to lift a finger in any meaningful way as record-breaking immigration raged out of control.
Now that the 2024 election looms largely on the horizon, Harris has become even more of a liability for the Democrats. Biden is 80 years old and a risky choice for another four years in office, but Harris doesn't seem much better.
Harris is unpopular at a time when her job as sort of a spare president is most important. Instead, she continually reminds Americans of why they dislike her so much and how little she actually does for the nation.
