President Joe Biden's State of the Union address was full of gaslighting, which has been the hallmark of his rhetoric, according to the Heritage Foundation. Biden's lies were well-documented and debunked but the mainstream media attempted to deflect from this by attacking Republicans pointing out Biden's lies.
As far back as 2022, Biden was already attempting to lie about his role in the problems the nation was facing. Biden is guilty of attempting to mislead the American people but so far it has worked thanks to the cooperation of the media.
Biden lied about tax cuts, which he said "skewed to the wealthy—which would add to the deficit and make inflation worse." However, GOP tax breaks were geared toward low-income earners.
He also blamed rising health insurance premiums on the GOP even as he made government subsidies, which increase costs for everyone, available to even the wealthiest Americans. Biden also took up the cause of the high cost of student loan repayments, even though borrowers should expect to pay everything back.
Prior to his speech, House Republicans charged that Biden was sure to "gaslight," Fox News reported. "I think it's going to be ‘Gaslighting of the Union,'" Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) predicted.
"He's going to tell America how rosy everything is, that the economy is great, the border’s secure, as if Americans are idiots. And I find that quite insulting," she added.
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) believed his lies wouldn't land. "The good news is people have heard the spin from this president and his administration for three-plus years," Emmer said.
"They’re sitting at home watching this saying, ‘Whatever this is going to be, I'm not better off today than I was four years ago. And that's going to play when it comes to November," Emmer said.
Biden did not disappoint in lying about everything from inflation to the economy and even whether illegal immigration is actually a crisis, the Washington Examiner reported. However, one lie that Republicans accidentally perpetuated was the only thing the left deemed worthy of debunking.
The only fact check the left-leaning website Snopes decided to zero in on came from a post that made the rounds on X, formerly Twitter. The House Republicans account had reshared a graphic purportedly from Biden's team that announced the State of the Union speech.
The only problem was that it had the wrong date and was from the prior year's speech. "Joe Biden doesn't even know what year it is," the post was captioned.

Snopes pounced on the error with a "Fake" rating. "We found no evidence on Biden's X account, or any other official account used by his team, of having shared the incorrect graphic in 2024 using the 2023 State of the Union date. As such, we rate the screenshot as 'Fake,'" the website claimed.
Biden has a history of lies, obfuscations, and gaslighting. This year was no different, but the left is still too blind to see it.
