Fox News rolls out ‘The Girls’ podcast with rotating female hosts

Fox News is launching “The Girls,” a weekly podcast with rotating female co-hosts and a no-holds-barred style, expanding its podcast slate beyond the usual prime-time brands.

Deadline reported that Fox News Podcasts will debut the conversation series on Thursday, with new episodes dropping every Thursday after that.

The first episode brings together Rachel Campos-Duffy, Harris Faulkner, Kat Timpf, new contributor Melissa DeRosa, and former ESPN host Samantha Ponder. The format uses a rotating cast of co-hosts rather than a fixed permanent panel.

Porter Berry, president of Fox News Digital and New Media, called the show “a natural addition to our growing podcast portfolio.”

Megan Albano, executive vice president of morning programming and program development, said in a statement that the podcast would be a “no-holds-barred format that captures the authenticity and perspectives of the many dynamic women” on the network and elsewhere.

First lineup mixes Fox veterans and outside voices

Campos-Duffy co-hosts Fox & Friends Weekend and joined the network in 2016. Faulkner has been with Fox News since 2005, anchors The Faulkner Focus, and co-hosts Outnumbered. Timpf is a panelist on Gutfeld! and joined in 2015.

That mix sits in the same lane as other Fox panel shows that already draw big audiences. Emily Compagno’s permanent seat on The Five showed how the network locks in women who hold their own in open debate.

DeRosa is listed as a new contributor. She previously served in the administration of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Ponder formerly hosted ESPN’s Sunday Countdown.

Putting a former Cuomo aide on a Fox podcast is a pointed booking. It signals the show is not limited to longtime network talent and is willing to pull in voices with different résumés.

Podcast push keeps widening

Fox News Podcasts has been expanding the slate. Hang Out with Sean Hannity debuted earlier this year, and “The Girls” is the latest panel-style entry in that push.

Network talent moves have not always been smooth. Fox’s split with Maria Bartiromo turned into a public fight over contracts and politics, and viewers noticed.

“The Girls” is a different kind of move: build the bench instead of shrinking it. Rotating hosts keep the conversation fresh and give more women airtime without locking the brand to a single personality.

Audience trust still matters when hosts leave under a cloud. Boycott calls after the Bartiromo exit showed how quickly parts of the base react when a familiar voice disappears.

A new women-led podcast does not erase those fights. It does show the company is still investing in talk formats that sound like the shows viewers already watch, Outnumbered, Gutfeld!, The Five, and packaging them for podcasts.

Host discipline remains a live issue elsewhere on the roster. Kennedy’s clash with a Daily Wire journalist drew conservative pushback and reminded talent that the audience polices tone as hard as any executive.

Against that backdrop, Albano’s pitch is straightforward: authenticity over scripted talking points. Berry’s line is simpler still, grow the podcast business with a format Fox already knows how to produce.

Thursday’s debut will test whether rotating co-hosts and a freewheeling panel travel as well in earbuds as they do on daytime and late-night TV.

Fox is betting that women who speak plainly still beat the filtered product the rest of the media keeps selling.
