President Joe Biden turned 80 years old, and the public celebrated by posting a variety of comments online. On Sunday, Biden became the first president who was 80 years old. When he took office at the age of 78, he was the oldest president in history.
On the eve of Biden's birthday, former U.S. ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said it was "time for a new generation to lead" in reference to the 2024 presidential race, as The Washington Examiner reported.
Although 76-year-old former president Donald Trump declared his candidacy last month, Biden has not yet said if he will seek reelection. However, some conservatives jumped at the chance to remind voters that the current president is the oldest to ever serve.
"The GOP has lost the popular vote in 7/8 of the last presidential elections... We're behind the times. And we have to be honest with ourselves," Haley said. "Joe Biden turns 80 years old tomorrow. Happy birthday, Mr. President—but it's time for a younger generation to lead."

Political commentator Xaviaer DuRousseau was more blunt with his take saying "Donald Trump coming back to Twitter just in time for Joe Biden's 80th birthday is the greatest thing I've ever witnessed. Thank you, @elonmusk."

White House reporter Tyler Pager noted the POTUS's birthday saying, "At the mass President Biden attended tonight, the congregation sang happy birthday to the president, per attendee. Biden turns 80 tomorrow and went to the service with his daughter, Ashley.

However, another frustrated writer came with a different approach tweeting, "No DNC, I do not care to sign Biden's birthday card. It does not matter me to me whether he has a happy birthday or not. Because he's the president and that is not one of my concerns for the president."
