Patel takes down Mexican-Mafia linked gang

I guess it all depends on the perspective you have as to whether Kash Patel is doing a good job as the FBI Director.

There is no questioning the busts he has made, and he just made another huge one, taking down a violent crime ring in California.

Even so, the media is out to get him, and the negative stories keep hitting.

Most Wanted

Patel has had a really good run of taking down major criminals all over the country.

He has clearly been targeting the “Most Wanted” list, and the Trump administration had touted every arrest.

For instance, in March, the FBI announced that it had arrested an MS-13 gang leader, Francisco Javier Roman-Bardales.

The FBI noted that he had been arrested “for his alleged role in ordering numerous acts of violence against civilians and rival gang members, as well as his role in drug distribution and extortion schemes in the United States and El Salvador.”

Negative Press

Patel gets almost no coverage by the mainstream media when he does something good, but when he does something they don’t like, it is all over the headlines. For instance, this week, MSNBC went after him regarding the “pseudo ‘Arctic Frost’ controversy, which is related to the phone records of Republican senators being snatched up by Special Counsel Jack Smith during his January 6 investigation into Donald Trump. Patel reportedly fired the agents involved in the investigation, which had MSNBC on the warpath.

The outlet reported, “Broadly speaking, there are three elements to this worth keeping in mind. The first and most obvious is the absurdity of seeing the bureau oust agents who don’t appear to have done anything wrong. The second is the pattern in which Patel keeps ousting agents who’ve done nothing wrong as part of an ongoing, monthslong purge.”

The report added, “Finally, the fact that Patel took this opportunity not just to fire agents but to shutter an FBI group tasked with investigating public corruption is part of an indefensible pattern.”

NBC News also reported, “For decades, the FBI and the Justice Department have been the main enforcers of laws against political corruption and white-collar fraud in the United States.” In 2025, however, the Trump administration “has dismantled key parts of that law enforcement infrastructure, creating what experts say is the ripest environment for corruption by public officials and business executives in a generation.”

Another Bust

I have not spoken to my FBI contacts about the disbanding of this unit and the firing of agents, so I will get back to you guys on that one, but while all this was taking place, the FBI, in a joint operation with the LAPD, made another huge bust.

Director Patel announced, "The era of cartels operating freely in America is over. Every day, the FBI and our partners are dismantling violent networks at the source, stripping their resources, taking criminals off the streets and saving American lives."

This was a multi-year operation that culminated in revealing links between Rancho San Pedro, the Sinaloa Cartel, and the 13th Street gang, which had a huge drug operation that was running throughout Southern California. FBI Los Angeles Assistant Director Akil Davis added, "This action will cause a significant setback to Rancho San Pedro and their Mexican Mafia overlords and lead to safer streets for San Pedro residents.”

The funny thing about this is that there is more coverage of the “Arctic Frost” firings than there is of the massive bust made in this operation. Just goes to show you that even when Patel wins, he loses.
