After his contribution was pushed back in favor of publicizing Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) voiced some frustration about his poorly timed segment from Friday.
In addition to adding his own complaint-filled verification to the newly breaking story, Senator Murphy reshared a post that was originally published by writer Yashar Ali, wherein he announced the royal reveal, as The Daily Beast reported.
“Can confirm! I was supposed to be on @CNN at 2pm to talk about the anniversary of the Affordable Care Act and the millions of lives it has saved, but my interview has been bumped by this much more important topic,” he wrote.
Despite the fact that Murphy deleted the tweet shortly after it was posted, users of X continued to criticize the elected official.
“Imagine learning a woman has cancer and thinking this is such an inconvenience because my talking points got bumped,” one X user called “Sunny” wrote.
“Anyway, you can tell @ChrisMurphyCT definitely cares about people’s health care because he admits his cable news spots are more important than cancer diagnosis announcements,” they added in another post.

Other users offered sarcastic comments, such as user “Oilfield Rando," who said “Hi Chris, she was announcing her battle with cancer. Sorry you couldn’t talk about Obamacare.”
Middleton, 42, made a public appearance (via video) on Friday to update the public on her condition after being sidelined for weeks subsequent to abdominal surgery in January, as The New York Post reported.
She disclosed that she had undergone surgery in January; however, despite an initial positive outcome, she was later diagnosed with cancer and is presently undergoing chemotherapy.
“I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery,” she said.
“It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful.”
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre commented on Kate’s announcement, calling it “terrible news,” adding to reporters:
“Our thoughts are with the Duchess of Cambridge and her family members and friends during this incredibly difficult time. And certainly we wish her a full recovery. And I think it’s important that we respect their privacy, especially at this time.”
