Over the last few weeks, Donald Trump has issued some inexplicable pardons to corrupt officials and hardened criminals.
After suggesting he might offer Diddy a pardon in his sex trafficking trial, rapper 50 Cent vowed to convince Trump otherwise.
I have been very outspoken against Trump’s pardons for high-profile figures who had been convicted of corruption charges. Shockingly, the media, at least for the most part, has not stuck a microphone in the face of Attorney General Pam Bondi or high-profile Republicans to ask them if they support these pardons.
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is not someone I generally agree with, but he hit the nail on the head with comments about Trump’s recent slew of pardons.
Christie stated that Trump, with these pardons, is basically saying there are no more white-collar crimes, stating, “He’s saying it doesn’t exist, anything goes.”
Just last week, Trump pardoned the Todd and Julia Chrisley, who were convicted on charges related to fraudulent loans and tax evasion, claiming they the DOJ was weaponized against them, which was 100% not the case.
The Sean “Diddy” Combs case has been all over the news, and I don’t know a single person who thinks this man deserves any leniency for what he has done.
Trump admitted that nobody approached him about a pardon for Diddy, but he said he would consider looking at the case to see if he was treated unfairly, which is just absurd.
Trump explained, “Nobody’s asked. But I know people are thinking about it. I know they’re thinking about it. I think some people have been very close to asking.
“I would certainly look at the facts.”
Diddy and 50 Cent have a long-running rivalry, and he is relishing in the fact that Diddy could wind up in jail for the rest of his life, that is as long as Trump does not pardon him.
The rapper posted on Instagram after Trump made his comments, “He said some really bad things about Trump, it’s not ok. I’m gonna reach out so he knows how I feel about this guy.
“Donald doesn’t take well to disrespect, and doesn’t forget who chooses to go against him.”
I firmly believe that these pardons and several other moves will override any good that Trump has done or will do in office, most notably the expansion of the family business in the Middle East during this presidency. The latter could be on the up and up, but I will tell you flat-out the optics on it are horrendous.
