Actor Zachery Ty Bryan, known for his role in the ABC sitcom Home Improvement, has been arrested.
Fox News reports that police allegedly caught Bryan driving under the influence.
The arrest, according to the outlet, took place on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, in La Quinta, California.
The time of day was 2:36 in the morning.
La Quinta Sergeant Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez explained what happened in a statement that she provided to Fox News Digital. Brito-Gonzalez suggested that Bryan may have been in a traffic collision before being arrested by police.
"Deputies assigned to the La Quinta Sheriff’s Station conducted a traffic stop in the area of Washington Street and Calle Tampico in La Quinta on a vehicle suspected of being involved in a recent traffic collision," Brito-Gonzalez revealed.
She added, "When deputies contacted the driver, they observed indications of impairment, leading to the driver’s arrest for driving under the influence with priors."
It was only later, according to Brito-Gonzalez, that the driver of the vehicle was identified as the 42-year-old Bryan.
Bryan was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, which is a felony, and with contempt of court, which is a misdemeanor. After posting a $50,000 bond, he was released.
This is not Bryan's first run-in with the law, which helps to explain the charges and the bond. Bryan, in fact, was just arrested in October 2023.
USA Today, at the time, reported:
Home Improvement star Zachery Ty Bryan has pleaded guilty to a felony assault charge after a recent arrest for domestic violence, just three months after he was jailed for a similar incident . . . The actor reached a plea deal that included the dismissal of a second count of felony assault and a nearly two-year prison sentence.
Instead, Bryan served seven days in jail, and he was placed on supervised probation for a period of 36 months. He was also ordered to comply with standard domestic violence conditions, including receiving treatment for alcohol and substance abuse issues.
Before this October 2023 incident, Fox reports, "Bryan was previously arrested in 2020 and entered a guilty plea stemming from an altercation with girlfriend Johnnie Faye Cartwright, in which he allegedly tried to strangle her at their apartment in Eugene, Oregon."
Bryan is scheduled to appear in court for his latest arrest on April 23. It is unclear, at the time of this writing, what legal consequences he is facing.
