The Washington Commanders suspended Vice President of Content Rael Enteen after an undercover video captured him making derogatory comments about players, executives, and NFL fans.
Fox News reported that the suspension came as part of an internal investigation following the release of the video, which was secretly filmed by a woman from a media company led by conservative activist James O’Keefe.
The incident unfolded when Enteen was filmed during a private date, where he openly criticized various aspects of the Commanders organization and the NFL.
The video showed him making disparaging remarks about the team's roster, using offensive language and stereotypes.
In the video, Enteen described some players on the Commanders' roster as “dumb as all hell,” while he insulted certain fans, referring to them as “high school-educated alcoholics” and “mouth breathers.” His remarks were wide-ranging and went beyond just the team, taking aim at some of the NFL’s most prominent figures.
Enteen claimed that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones “really runs the NFL” and accused him of harboring hatred toward both gay people and Black people. He also spoke critically of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, calling him a “$50 million puppet.”
The Commanders swiftly responded to the video’s release by suspending Enteen. In a statement to Fox News Digital, the organization said, “The language used in the video runs counter to our values at the Commanders organization.” The team confirmed that Enteen’s suspension was pending an internal investigation into the incident.
“We have suspended the employee pending an internal investigation and will reserve further comment at this time,” the Commanders’ statement continued.
The team’s prompt action reflects the seriousness with which it is handling the situation, particularly given the nature of Enteen’s comments and the growing scrutiny around workplace conduct within the NFL.
In addition to his remarks about Jones and Goodell, Enteen expressed a jaded view of his own role within the Commanders organization. He candidly admitted that his job was to "sell hope to fans" even when there was none, an apparent acknowledgment of the team’s struggles on the field.
His social media history revealed that he had previously worked for the New York Jets and the XFL before joining the Commanders in 2020. Despite his professional experience, the comments in the video have cast a shadow over his career, calling into question his judgment and professionalism.
While the Commanders were quick to take action, other entities named in the video have remained silent. Fox News Digital reached out to the Dallas Cowboys and the NFL for comment, but neither responded immediately to the inquiries.
Enteen’s specific claims about Jerry Jones have not yet been addressed by the Cowboys organization. Similarly, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has made no public remarks regarding Enteen’s description of him as a puppet for team owners like Jones.
The video has not only cast a negative light on Enteen but also raised broader concerns about the culture within the Commanders organization. Enteen’s remarks about the composition of the team, particularly his offensive generalizations about players and fans, have prompted questions about whether these views are isolated to one individual or reflect a deeper problem within the team’s culture.
