Vivek Ramaswamy Plans Major Government Overhaul, Multiple Federal Agencies Will Be Abolished

In a recent television interview, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy revealed plans to streamline the federal government through a new initiative called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

The objective of the initiative is to eliminate inefficiencies by reducing the scope of certain government bodies and addressing concerns about waste and abuse according to Breitbart.

Ramaswamy shared these insights during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”

He elaborated on the creation of DOGE, which aims to address longstanding concerns about governmental excess. By aiming to "delete" certain federal agencies and curb waste, the department seeks to reshape the way the federal government operates.

Plan Backed by Business Approach

According to Ramaswamy, traditional political approaches to government reform have fallen short over the past decades.

Despite numerous discussions about reducing the federal government’s role, little has been achieved in practice. Ramaswamy, alongside Tesla CEO Elon Musk, intends to take a different approach by applying business principles to the issue.

“Over the last 40 years, even conservatives... Politicians haven’t been able to do it,” Ramaswamy said. Identifying themselves as outsiders who can bring fresh perspectives, both he and Musk are eager to implement practical solutions to longstanding inefficiencies.

The proposed department aims to implement initial actions through executive power to achieve quick successes. This is seen as a way to demonstrate the potential for significant reform while paving the path for more comprehensive legislative measures.

Ramaswamy acknowledged the groundwork established by former President Trump in terms of governmental reform, stating, “I applaud President Trump for setting this up for success.” He emphasized the importance of initial executive actions to yield immediate results and to entice Congress to engage in further reform.

He noted that addressing areas such as "massive waste, fraud, and abuse" is a crucial first step.

In particular, he identified the issue of federal contractors who, he asserts, are exploiting government funds. By addressing these inefficiencies, Ramaswamy believes broader cuts can be implemented effectively.

Ramaswamy reiterated that initial actions are just a beginning. By showcasing what executive actions can achieve, he hopes to lay the groundwork for Congress to take meaningful and lasting steps in streamlining the government.

One of the primary objectives of DOGE is to achieve significant reductions within the federal government. Ramaswamy expects some agencies to be completely removed, while others will face reductions in workforce and scope.

He expressed, "We expect mass reductions… of certain agencies… We expect mass reductions in force in areas of the federal government that are bloated."

The aim isn’t merely to reduce the size of the government but to also address financial inefficiencies. Specifically, the initiative seeks to target federal contractors that he claims are “overbilling the federal government."

Conservative Support for the Initiative

The proposal by Ramaswamy has resonated with certain segments of the conservative community, who have long been vocal about the need for downsizing government operations.

Efforts to reduce government bloat have been a cornerstone of conservative platforms for decades. Yet, as Ramaswamy pointed out, genuine action has often been stymied by political gridlock and resistance to change.

His initiative seeks to break through these barriers by adopting methods that have been honed in the business world, focusing on efficiency, accountability, and measurable improvements.

Ramaswamy’s approach is decidedly nontraditional. By leveraging business acumen, he hopes to implement strategies that will reduce unnecessary expenditure and promote a more streamlined federal government.

The essence of DOGE extends beyond mere cost-cutting. It emphasizes a redefined role for federal agencies focused on agility and efficiency. The initiative suggests that excess can be mitigated, allowing government functions to proceed unimpeded.

Ramaswamy’s vision is projected to commence with pragmatic actions achievable through executive orders. Once demonstrated, these efforts are intended to encourage Congress to institutionalize more extensive reforms.
