US Supreme Court to expedite Trump's Colorado ballot removal case

When former President Donald Trump was removed from the ballot in Colorado and eventually Maine, massive legal actions were taken by all sides.

That's especially true for Trump's side, as his lawyers ensured that the U.S. Supreme Court would take up the issue as soon as possible.

According to Breitbart, the high court agreed to expedite a decision in the ballot removal case, setting a date to hear oral arguments for Feb. 8.

The Colorado Supreme Court's ruling that temporarily removed Trump from the ballot sparked massive backlash.

Breitbart noted:

The Court unilaterally determined that “clear and convincing evidence” proved “that President Trump engaged in insurrection” despite Trump having never been convicted of that or any other crime or even been charged in court with the crime of insurrection. The U.S. Senate acquitted him of charges of engaging in insurrection, and he continues to deny wrongdoing.

Voters and politicians alike criticized the ruling as one driven by political motives. That was also the feeling regarding Maine, as its secretary of state unilaterally decided to remove Trump from the ballot.

Most legal experts believe Trump will ultimately come out on top in Colorado at the hands of the conservative-majority Supreme Court.

That decision, assuming it's in Trump's favor, will also essentially quash similar efforts to remove him in other states, such as Maine.

Social media users voiced their approval of the high court deciding to take up the case on an expedited basis.

"They have no choice but to take this case. The Democrats are trying to takeaway the rights of Americans to vote for the candidate of their choice," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "And when the court rules in President Trump's favor the Dems will attack the court. Obviously the Dems do not trust the American voters to make the "correct" choice next Nov."

Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung welcomed the news.

"We welcome a fair hearing at the Supreme Court to argue against the bad-faith, election-interfering, voter-suppressing, Democrat-backed and Biden-led, 14th Amendment abusing decision to remove President Trump’s name from the 2024 ballot in the state of Colorado," Cheung said.
