Tulsi Gabbard Preparing Trump For Presidential Debate, Discusses Harris's Debate Strength

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who previously served as a Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii, has officially endorsed former President Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential election.

The Hill reported that her endorsement came during a National Guard Association event held in Michigan on Monday. Gabbard's support for Trump marks a significant moment in the ongoing campaign as she not only endorsed him but also discussed the political dynamics surrounding Vice President Kamala Harris.

Gabbard's endorsement of Trump coincides with her comments on Vice President Kamala Harris's capabilities in the upcoming debates, emphasizing the contrasts between their records.

Gabbard's endorsement of Trump is notable, given her past critiques of the former president during her own presidential run in 2020.

However, her recent statements indicate a shift in her political stance, highlighting her belief in Trump's leadership for the upcoming election. This endorsement also comes with Gabbard's involvement in Trump's debate preparations, where she is expected to offer insights based on her experience.

Gabbard Praises Harris's Debate Skills

During her endorsement speech, Gabbard took the opportunity to comment on Vice President Kamala Harris, whom she faced during the 2020 Democratic primaries.

Despite their past political rivalry, Gabbard expressed a cautious respect for Harris's debate abilities. "I think Kamala Harris has a lot of experience. She is not to be underestimated," Gabbard stated, acknowledging Harris's potential impact in the upcoming debates.

Gabbard's remarks about Harris come at a critical time as the vice president prepares to take on her Republican challengers.

The former congresswoman highlighted the importance of comparing the records of Trump and Harris, noting that both have held high offices in the U.S. government.

Gabbard emphasized that the upcoming debates would provide voters with a unique opportunity to assess the differences between Trump, who served four years as president, and Harris, who has served almost four years as vice president.

One of the key points Gabbard made during her speech was the contrast between Trump and Harris's records.

According to Gabbard, the debate stage will serve as a platform for highlighting these differences, particularly in how both candidates have handled their respective roles in the highest offices of the land.

Gabbard pointed out that while Trump has a record as a former president, Harris's record as vice president, alongside President Joe Biden, presents a different set of experiences.

Gabbard also noted that Harris has been shifting away from her previous positions, which she believes contradicts some of the statements Harris is making as the Democratic nominee.

This observation hints at potential vulnerabilities that could be exploited in the debates, where consistency in policy and stance will likely be scrutinized by both candidates and voters alike.

Trump And Harris Campaigns Respond To Criticisms

In response to Gabbard's comments, the Harris campaign issued a memo addressing some of the criticisms directed at the vice president.

The memo acknowledged the accusations of Harris shifting positions but countered by pointing out that Trump himself has a history of flip-flopping on various issues. "On issue after issue, Trump is saying one thing after having done another," the Harris campaign stated, drawing attention to what they describe as inconsistencies in Trump's political record.

The Harris campaign's memo further elaborated on Trump's nearly ten-year record as a presidential candidate and president.

The memo criticized Trump for allegedly trying to "memory-hole" his past positions and rhetoric, especially now that he is once again running for the presidency. "Trump must be held accountable for his brazen flip-flops wholly at odds with how he governed as president," the memo concluded, signaling that the campaign intends to focus on holding Trump accountable for his past statements.

Gabbard's involvement in Trump's debate preparation adds another layer of intrigue to the upcoming presidential race.

Having previously debated Harris during the 2020 Democratic primaries, Gabbard's experience is seen as valuable by the Trump campaign. Gabbard mentioned that she could assist Trump by sharing insights from her previous encounters with Harris, particularly in pointing out the ways Harris has tried to move away from her past record.

This collaboration between Gabbard and Trump underscores the strategic importance of the debates in shaping voter perceptions.

Both campaigns are gearing up for what promises to be a contentious and closely watched series of debates, with each side seeking to highlight their candidate's strengths while exposing the weaknesses of their opponent.
