Tucker Carlson ready to fight to be released from Fox News contract

Tucker Carlson cut his teeth in the news business on the model of truth-telling, and Fox News is reportedly about to find out just how far he'll take that creed.

According to Axios, Carlson, on the verge of attempting to launch his own rival news outlet via Twitter, has threatened to take Fox News head-on.

The outlet reported that he's ready to "go to war" against Fox News, using a number of powerful allies, in an attempt to start a rival network. Fox News currently still has him under contract, and Carlson clearly wants out.

Carlson's lawyer made it clear that attempts to silence his client are ridiculous and poorly thought out.

"The idea that anyone is going to silence Tucker and prevent him from speaking to his audience is beyond preposterous," Hollywood attorney Bryan Freedman said in a statement.

That statement was especially evident on Tuesday as Carlson posted a short video via Twitter exposing the ugly truth behind all of the mainstream media, in that it's lies, or at least, particularly-crafted half-truths.

Fox News would clearly rather pay Carlson, the highest-rated news host in all of television history, $20 million a year to stay quiet instead of launching his own network, which will undoubtedly further damage Fox, as it took a heavy hit to its overall ratings and especially Carlson's time slot after he was abruptly fired.

Carlson seems to be confident in his ability to fight his way out of the contract.

Axios reported that a source close to Carlson said the former Fox News giant "knows where a lot of bodies are buried, and is ready to start drawing a map."

No further details were added, but taken in context with the video above, it sounds like Carlson is close to taking a torch to the establishment media landscape, and he will undoubtedly bring tens of millions of viewers with him.

It's unclear at this point what Carlson plans to do, should he escape the Fox chains currently holding him back.

But Axios mentioned that some sources reported that Carlson has already spoken with Elon Musk about a possible Twitter-based project, though no further details were available.

At this point, with as many people boycotting Fox News and missing Carlson, he could pretty much launch anything and would likely be an overnight hit. Only time will tell.
