Fox News host Tucker Carlson says President Joe Biden is not going to run for reelection in 2024, predicting a new candidate instead.
Carlson suggested that California Gov. Gavin Newsom will run instead for the Democratic nomination.

“And we’re guessing if we had to bet tonight, it’s going to be Gavin Newsom. We can’t say that for certain, but we have noticed Gavin Newsom was at the White House not long ago. And Joe Biden wasn’t just kind of measuring the curtains," Carlson said.
"And then over the weekend, we saw this. Gavin Newsom sitting down with the Democratic Party’s former spokeswoman, now in residence at MSNBC, Jen Psaki. Psaki didn’t conduct really an interview, she’s not a journalist. She gave Newsom instead a chance to outline his platform for when he takes complete control," he added.
For those saying Newsom wants DeSantis to wait so he doesn’t run against him, that’s false
Newsom already said he’s not running in '24. If he runs, it’ll be in 2028, the same year he wants DeSantis to run in

Newsom previously stated that he won't run in 2024 even if Biden does not. Many have predicted that he will run in 2028, already attacking Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis who he sees as his biggest future threat.
"California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) said he won’t run for president in 2024, even if President Biden declines to run for another term," The Hill reported in November.
"Newsom said in an interview with Politico that he has told the White House that he is “all in” on Biden running for reelection and told Biden himself during a phone call on Election Day earlier this month," it added.

Newsom reaffirmed the view in an interview this week with Jen Psaki on MSNBC.
“No, I’m not running. And I know it’s the perfunctory question we have to ask any time someone puts out a PAC," Newsom said.
"I get it…This is a way of amplifying good people all across this country and supporting our President in the process," he added.
Newsom may say he's not running but he's sure acting like it. The coming months will show whether Carlson's prediction is true of Newsom running in place of Biden.
