The shocking news this week was the prostate cancer diagnosis of Joe Biden.
It took about five seconds for conspiracy theories to run wild. So far, Trump has avoided that, merely wishing Biden a fast and successful recovery.
On Sunday, the news wires erupted that after going to the doctor over urinary problems, it was revealed that Joe Biden had a very aggressive form of prostate cancer.
Biden’s office stated, "Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.
"While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management. The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.”
When Biden was in office, he had a “cancerous” lesion removed from his chest, but he was given a clean bill of health during his last physical as president, with no signs of cancer at that point.
President Trump wished Biden well, stating, "Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery."
Donald Trump Jr. also avoided the conspiracy theory angles, at least initially, stating, "BREAKING: Joe Biden has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Politics aside, we wish him a speedy recovery!" Later, Trump Jr. would post a question regarding the timing of the announcement, as if Biden was keeping this cancer diagnosis in his back pocket to flip a negative news cycle.
While most people wished Biden well, it did not take long for the conspiracy theorists to chime in about the biggest medical cover-up in White House history, or so they seem to think.
Back in July, Laura Loomer, after Biden allegedly had a medical incident on Air Force One, claimed that Biden was terminally ill and likely to die in six to 12 months. She immediately patted herself on the back over the diagnosis, but let’s break that down for just a second.
For Loomer to have been correct, rather than throwing a dart, as I believe, Biden would have had to have known about his cancer for some time, but decided not to be treated when the cancer could have been treated and eradicated. Not only that, but you are talking about scores of doctors at Walter Reed and the White House covering it up. Additionally, it would mean that a Biden insider entrusted Laura Loomer, who may be the only person the left hates more than Donald Trump, with that information. It’s insanity to think that Loomer had an inside track on this report and everyone else was able to keep their mouths shut.
Dr Ezekiel Emanuel, a former member of Biden’s transition team, added fuel to this fire by saying Biden was likely living with this for years, and he surely did not develop it within the last 100 or 200 days. Now, that may be true, but he failed to mention that Biden came up clean during his last physical, which was over a year ago, and that after the age of 70, many doctors do not require their male patients to take the PSA test that would show possible development of the cancer. It is very likely that the cancer symptoms were minute and missed prior, but became far more aggressive after Biden’s last physical.
CNN’s Brian Stelter called the timing of the diagnosis “extraordinary” considering how much the administration is being criticized for having covered up Biden’s mental decline. The premise being that Biden was keeping this hidden to use for just the right time. But again, that would mean that Biden never sought treatment to use this as an excuse to flip the news cycle.
Could it just possibly be that Biden was showing no signs, and since he was well over 70, doctors did not order the PSA test? Could it be that Laura Loomer was just making general predictions in the hope that she would swing and get something right, so she could claim inside information? Just pump the brakes for a few seconds and ask yourself, do you really think Biden would have ignored the diagnosis? Do you really think all those doctors would put their careers on the line to cover for him? There are just way too many moving parts to allow any of these conspiracy theories any grip.
