The Epstein files have become a nightmare for Donald Trump, and he likely just made it worse.
After Democrats published some emails to make Trump look bad, Trump responded in kind.
The DOJ has been ordered to investigate Democrat ties to Epstein as well as Epstein’s ties to major banks.
Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Ro Khanna (D-CA) co-sponsored a discharge petition for the Epstein files to be released.
After an Arizona Democrat was sworn in after the government shutdown, Massie and Khanna had enough signatures to force the petition on the floor.
Democrats jumped the gun, however, cherry-picking emails that had already been released, publishing them out of context to make Trump look bad.
Social media is now flooded with allegations being made against Trump, including by Democrats in office, calling Trump a pedophile.
In one of the emails that was released, Epstein had written, "I want you to realize that that dog that hasn't barked is trump. Victim] spent hours at my house with him ,, he has never once been mentioned."
In some of the other emails that were leaked, author Michael Wolff and Epstein were plotting to take Trump out of the race.
Wolff told Epstein, "If he says he hasn't been on the plane or to the house, then that gives you a valuable PR and political currency. You can hang him in a way that potentially generates a positive benefit for you, or, if it really looks like he could win, you could save him, generating a debt.
“Of course, it is possible that, when asked, he'll say Jeffrey is a great guy and has gotten a raw deal and is a victim of political correctness, which is to be outlawed in a Trump regime."
Trump responded to the attacks by ordering Attorney General Pam Bondi to start investigating Epstein’s ties to Bill Clinton and major banking institutions.
Trump posted, “Now that the Democrats are using the Epstein Hoax, involving Democrats, not Republicans, to try and deflect from their disastrous SHUTDOWN, and all of their other failures, I will be asking A.G. Pam Bondi, and the Department of Justice, together with our great patriots at the FBI, to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s involvement and relationship with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, JPMorgan Chase, and many other people and institutions, to determine what was going on with them, and him.”
Trump has likened the Democrats' efforts to connect him to Epstein as another “hoax,” like the Russian collusion investigation.
As I had noted in a previous report, the key to all of this is that everything the Democrats released had already been made public, so none of this is new news. This was all about how the Democrats cherry-picked information and how they framed that information.
