Trump succeeds in securing southern border, crisis was created by Biden's negligence

Tensions at the US- Mexico border have significantly eased under the current administration's policies. According to Customs and Border Protection data, the Trump administration has achieved marked success in reducing encounters and boosting security along the border.

The Daily Mail reported that a significant drop in border crossings has been recorded by the Trump administration compared to the Biden years, supported by a combination of policy changes and increased enforcement measures.

February 2025 marked a historic low in encounters at the southwest land border, with only 8,326 incidents reported. In stark contrast, February of the previous years recorded far higher numbers: 189,913 in 2024, 166,010 in 2023, and 156,630 in 2022.

This reduction suggests a substantial shift in the approach toward border security compared to former President Joe Biden's tenure.

Lowest Attempted Entries Claimed by Trump

President Donald Trump has confidently stated that the border is effectively "closed" to illegal entries. This assertion is backed by sweeping changes implemented since he took office, emphasizing strong enforcement actions to deter illegal migration.

The president has emphasized that those who attempt unlawful entry will face severe penalties and immediate removal from the country.

Secretary of Homeland Security Kirsti Noem highlighted the administration's proactive stance by noting the unprecedented number of arrests.

In February alone, there were 20,000 apprehensions— a 627% increase compared to figures during Biden's administration. This surge indicates a robust response to tackling unauthorized crossings and deterring illegal activities at the border.

Noem pointed out the apparent need for stringent border security measures, attributing the problem to previous lax policies. Her comments underscore a determined effort to expel thousands of undocumented migrants, including individuals with existing deportation orders.

Ivan Oramas and Santos Maradiaga-Villalta, both holding longstanding deportation orders, were among over 50,000 individuals deported so far this year.

The step of reopening a closed detention facility for immigrant families in Dilley also signifies a strategic commitment to controlling illegal migration. This center, closed under the previous administration, is set to house up to 2,400 individuals, indicating a tailored approach to managing family migrations at the border.

Impact and Future Prospects of New Policies

Trump's confident pronouncements underline the administration's intent to counter what he deems as an invasion. This narrative is anchored by factual declines in attempted entries and a tangible crackdown on unlawful crossings.

"The Invasion of our Country is OVER," Trump proclaimed, underscoring the pivotal role of enforcing border laws and re-establishing order.

Secretary Noem reinforced this sentiment, stating that immigrant criminals allowed into the country have been identified and are being sent back. Her comments align with the administration's narrative of reclaiming border integrity through active deportation measures.

With these policies yielding noticeable outcomes, the administration's focus remains steadfast on maintaining this momentum. However, the practical and humanitarian implications of such stringent policies continue to evoke debate.

Critics may question the broader impact on migrants seeking asylum, while proponents argue for the necessity of maintaining national security.

While the figures indicate a reduction in border incidents, the wider implications of such policies remain multifaceted. The challenge lies in reconciling robust security measures with the moral responsibilities entailed in managing migration humanely.
