For months, Donald Trump has been talking about adding Canada as the 51st state and Greenland as a U.S. territory.
While some thought he was just stirring the pot, Trump has confirmed he is dead serious about it.
During the campaign, Trump suggested adding Greenland as a US territory. While MAGA loved it, there were a lot of questions being asked about why Trump was so obsessed with Greenland.
After taking his oath of office, Trump confirmed he still wanted Greenland.
He stated, "I think the people want to be with us. I don't really know what claim Denmark has to it, but it would be a very unfriendly act if they didn't allow that to happen because it's for the protection of the free world.
"I think Greenland we'll get because it has to do with freedom of the world. It has nothing to do with the United States other than that we're the one that can provide the freedom. They can't."
Trump has also pushed adding Canada as the 51st state, which I have gone on record to say would be a monumental mistake, which I will get into in a second.
Trump stated, "The United States can't subsidize a country for $200 billion a year, We don't need their cars. We don't need their energy. We don't need their lumber. We don't need anything that they give.
“We do it because we want to be helpful. But it comes a point when you just can't do that.”
This is a horrible idea for the conservative movement. This would be like adding another California to the country, which currently has a +34 for Democrats in the House, not to mention the 50 or more electoral college votes the “state” would get. If Canada gets added to the United States, Republicans would never see the White House again. So, this is a completely idiotic idea on the part of Trump.
The talk about Canada and Greenland has died down over the last few weeks, but Trump was recently asked if he was just trolling or if he was serious about adding Greenland and California.
Trump confirmed, “Actually, no, I’m not (trolling).”
Trump was asked he intended to grow the American empire as president, and he responded, "Well, it depends as an empire, it wasn't, these are not things that we had before, so I'd view it a little bit differently if we had the right opportunity. Yeah, I think Greenland would be very well off if they I think it's important for us for national security and even international security."
Again, I think both are a bad idea, and I think Trump has far more important things to worry about right now than adding more debt and more liberals to this country.
