Trump Names Alleged Jan. 6 Participant Pete Marocco To Transition Team

Donald Trump has chosen Pete Marocco, a former official reportedly seen at the Capitol on January 6, for a key role in his transition team.

The Independent reported that Marocco, who has served in the Trump administration in the Departments of Defense, State, and Commerce, is currently involved in the hiring process at Trump's headquarters in Florida.

Marocco's involvement has raised eyebrows due to previous accusations and his alleged presence at the Capitol riots.

The group Sedition Hunters alleges that Marocco, along with his wife, was identified at the Capitol on January 6, utilizing video footage and facial recognition. Of course, attending a protest is not a crime, even if leftists would like it that way.

Furthermore, Marocco has dismissed these allegations as "petty smear tactics" and neither he nor his wife have been charged with any crimes related to the events.

During his previous government tenure, Marocco was accused of creating a hostile work environment, leading to a comprehensive 13-page memo by disgruntled USAID employees detailing grievances against him.

Support from Trump’s Team

The incoming White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt praises Marocco's national security policy expertise as beneficial for the Trump-Vance transition team.

Despite the criticism, the Trump administration supports his involvement.

Leavitt criticized the opposition, stating that efforts to use January 6 to obstruct the transition would fail, and allegations would be seen as mere smears by Americans.

President-elect Trump, who often challenges the Democrat narrative around the January 6 protests, describes the day as one of "peace and love" and plans to pardon those charged during the events, aligning with his narrative of the day's occurrences.

Democrats have spent the last four years attempting to portray the protest as an insurrection and attempt to overthrow the nation. Those charges have failed in every court they have been presented in.

Trump himself was aquitted on charges of insurrection by Congress but that hasn't stopped Democrats from trying to demonize Trump or anyone supporting him.

Impact of Marocco’s Appointment on Trump’s Legacy

The decision to appoint Marocco could significantly influence public perception of the Trump administration's commitment to addressing the January 6 events critically.

This appointment reopens debates on Trump’s handling of the incidents and his approach to law and order.

Media outlets, including The Independent, continue to seek responses from the Trump team regarding Marocco's appointment and its implications for governance and national reconciliation.

Many Americans have come around to the facts of what happened on January 6th and recognize that it was, in fact, not an insurrection designed to overthrow the government.

Rather, it was a protest based on legitimate fears of voter fraud that got out of control, somewhat like the protests that often led to billions in damages in the summer of 2020 that Democrats still justify to this day.
