Trump hints at requesting a mistrial in light of leaked DOJ evidence

Conservatives are outraged over the disclosure of classified evidence in the Donald Trump case to CNN, suggesting that Justice Department officials should be prosecuted and that Trump should move for a mistrial.

Trump appears to support this position. Thursday morning, the former president shared on his Truth Social posts demanding legal repercussions for the apparent DOJ leak, as Headline News reported.

“Trump’s lawyers need to file an immediate motion, with the long list of leaks as an exhibit, asking that the entire case be dismissed because of prosecutorial misconduct and the government’s effort to influence the jury pool,” said a Trump-shared post from political commentator and attorney Mark Levin.

“Moreover, I would insist that the court determine whether DOJ has opened investigations into these felonies. THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN NOW!”

Other well-known conservatives have also called for the charges against Trump to be dropped due to the leak.

“The leak of the Trump tape could and, in light of other prosecutorial abuse, should end the Biden regime’s current prosecution of Trump,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said on Twitter.

Still others of Trump's supporters consider the geopolitical landscape as a whole. The leaked audio indicates that the Pentagon had planned to strike Iran, contradicting reports from 2021 that Trump had pushed for the attack.

“With [Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark] Milley – let me see that, I’ll show you an example. He said that I wanted to attack Iran. Isn’t it amazing?" Trump said, according to the recording.

"I have a big pile of papers. This thing just came up. Look. This was him. They presented me this. This is off the record, but they presented me this. This was him. This was the Defense Department and him."

The Twitter account "BigFish3000" went on to assert that Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the mainstream media were complicit in the falsehood that Trump intended to launch an attack on Iran during his final days in office.

“I had sought information from those in the position to know, that there are protections against this dangerous President initiating any military hostilities or something worse than that,” Pelosi told 60 Minutes in 2021.

Despite the number of public castigations the former president has received, his lead has reportedly grown in New Hampshire, while his closest competitor, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has lost ground.
