Christmas just came early for Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), who happens to be running for the soon-to-be-vacant Senate seat in his home state, currently occupied by the outgoing Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN).
That's because according to Breitbart, Banks, a staunch pro-Trump lawmaker, received a glowing endorsement from former President Donald Trump this week.

Trump heaped praise on Banks, noting that he's especially tough on some of the most critical issues facing America today, like the illegal immigration crisis, strengthening our military and cracking down on out-of-control crime.
"Jim Banks is running for the United States Senate from the Great State of Indiana," Trump's endorsement statement read.
It added: "I know Jim well, have seen him tested at the highest and most difficult levels, and WIN! Strong on the Border, Crime, our Military and our Vets, Jim will fight for low taxes and regulations, Sanity in Government, and our under siege 2nd Amendment. Jim Banks is respected by all, will never let you down, and has my Complete & Total Endorsement!"

Banks quickly released a statement thanking his political ally and former president for the endorsement.
"President Trump was the first president of my lifetime to confront the China threat and put working families in Indiana and across the country first. He strengthened our military and America’s standing on the world stage, secured the border, and grew our economy, but in just two years we’ve seen much of that progress wiped out by Joe Biden and the Democrats’ radical agenda."
Banks added: "I’m grateful to President Trump for his support and look forward to fighting for the America First agenda in the U.S. Senate."
Ahead of the announcement, according to Fox News, Banks laid out his agenda for his hopeful Senate career. It's easy to see why Trump would endorse such a candidate, as Banks is clearly in the "America First" corner of politics.
"I’m 100% pro-life, pro-family, pro-military, pro-veteran, focused on the issues that the voters care most about today, which is holding the Biden administration accountable and restoring America, fighting for our conservative values, putting America first, and that’s what I want to do in the Senate," Banks said.
So far, Banks is the only candidate who has announced intentions to run for the Indiana seat in the Senate.
Given that Indiana is MAGA country and a placed where Trump always scores high numbers, Banks should have a relatively easy campaign victory ahead of him.
