Trump calls 14th Amendment idea a 'trick' and 'election interference'

Democrats have tried just about everything to derail former President Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign, and so far, nothing has worked.

Their desperation became incredibly clear when several legal experts suggested that Trump could be removed from the ballots next year using Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. The movement has gained little steam, as it's marred in inevitable legal challenges, and the amendment was originally intended for former Confederate leaders after the end of the Civil War.

For his part, Trump saw through it all, writing in a Truth Social post this week that he believes it's simply another attempt at "election interference," not unlike the multiple indictments he currently faces.

"Like Election Interference, it is just another 'trick' being used by the Radical Left Communists, Marxists, and Fascists, to again steal an Election that their candidate, the WORST, MOST INCOMPETENT, & MOST CORRUPT President in U.S. history, is incapable of winning in a Free and Fair Election. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" Trump wrote.

The Examiner added:

Using the 14th Amendment to disqualify Trump has gained traction since the former president launched his 2024 bid following the midterm elections. It has received more attention since the announcement of Trump's four legal cases: two at the state level and two at the federal level.

Free Speech for People, a legal advocacy group pushing for secretaries of state to remove Trump from the ballot next year, has received lukewarm reactions.

The idea has also been pushed by prominent Democrats, including Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA).

"In my view, the attack on the Capitol that day was designed for a particular purpose at a particular moment,” Sen. Kaine said Sunday.

"And that was to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power as laid out in the Constitution. So I think there’s a powerful argument to be made. My sense is it’s probably going to get resolved in the courts. But, you know, I think what we have to focus on in our side is, is we just got to win in 2024."

Kaine went on to stress that while he believes there's an argument to be made regarding the 14th Amendment, he'd rather see Democrats focus on racking up wins next year.

Angry anti-Trumpers shot back at the former president across social media.

Only time will tell if Democrats move forward with the idea, but it would likely be tied up in the courts long after the election.
