Trump assassin tried to commit suicide in courtroom

They say you will never know how you react until you get punched in the face.

Trump’s wannabe assassin just got punched, and he didn't take it very well.

As the verdict came in, he reportedly grabbed a pen to try to stab himself in the neck rather than face his prison sentence.

The Assassination Attempt

Ryan Wesley Routh tried to kill Donald Trump about a month after another gunman just missed Trump, grazing his ear, in Butler, PA. Had Trump not turned his head at that exact moment, we would likely not have him alive today.

Routh staked out a hide on the fence line of Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course, the lay in wait for Trump, who was only a candidate at the time, to arrive.

When a Secret Service agent spotted a weapon through the fence line, he opened fire, but Routh fled the scene unharmed. While Trump's life was saved, this was yet another failure, at least in my opinion, of rather standard security protocols.

He was eventually found and arrested, then charged with attempting to kill a presidential candidate, among other charges.

The Trial

The trial was assigned to Trump-appointed Judge Aileen Cannon, and it was assumed that she would be asked to recuse herself.

When the motion was presented, she refused, but it did cause a delay in the case, moving it to February 2025.

Ruth eventually requested to defend himself, a motion that was granted, with the trial beginning on September 8, 2025.

It did not take long for the jury to return its verdict, finding him guilty on all counts.

Ending It

When the verdict was read, Routh decided to kill himself right in the courtroom, grabbing a nearby pen and attempting to stab himself in the neck, but he was stopped before he could carry out the deed.

His daughter was present, telling her father, "Don’t do anything. I will get you out. What the f---, f---, he didn’t hurt anybody. This is not fair. This is all rigged – you guys are a--holes."

Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Browne told the jury before it deliberated, "This was not a publicity stunt. The evidence has shown one thing and one thing only — the defendant wanted Donald Trump dead."

Cannon will have the option to sentence Routh to life in prison, and I am fairly certain she will go that route to deter others from doing the same.
