Recent revelations about the FBI's investigation into sexual assault claims against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh have caused significant outrage among leftists.
The Guardian reported that in 2018, Brett Kavanaugh faced multiple accusations of sexual misconduct, all of which were baseless and found to be without merit after extensive investigation. The FBI launched a political investigation into Kavanaugh anyway which was crushed by former President Donald Trump.
The news of Trump's intervention to crush the investigation has ignited outrage among leftists who slandered Justice Kavanaugh as a sexual predator despite having no evidence.
The most notable accusations came from Christine Blasey Ford, who alleged that Kavanaugh assaulted her during a party in high school. Her testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee was inconsistent and refuted by multiple witnesses but that didn't stop leftists from running with it.
Thousands of erroneous tips and claims were sent to the FBI and in recognition of the political nature of these tips, the Trump administration ruthlessly muzzled the FBI.
Several other former classmates reported instances of drunken misconduct, further complicating the nomination process. However, there was no evidence against Kavanaugh outside of typical college behavior which involved drunken behavior.
None of that involved forceful or unwanted sexual conduct and yet leftists continue to slander Kavanaugh based on the changing story of Blasey Ford.
Senate Republicans remained determined to ensure Kavanaugh's confirmation, largely due to his potential influence on pivotal issues such as abortion rights and in repudiation of the blatant character assassination Democrats were engaged in.
The agency received a large volume of information, with thousands of tips pouring in about Kavanaugh's past behavior. Despite the sheer number of allegations, the investigation lasted only a week—a remarkably short period for such a high-profile case.
Significantly, the FBI did not conduct interviews with critical individuals, including Blasey Ford herself. This omission became a point of contention as it appeared to undermine the thoroughness of the investigation.
This appears to have been a decision made by the Trump administration which was determined to shut down the slanderous attacks on Kavanaugh.
A report released on Tuesday by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse's office cast new light on the situation.
It asserted that the investigation was steered by the Trump administration, which allegedly restricted the FBI's authority to follow up on the numerous tips it had received. What Democrats don't seem to understand is that there was already a lengthy investigation conducted by the Senate.
By all accounts, the Trump administration's conduct was justified by the lack of evidence against Kavanaugh and they were obligated to shut down the character assassination of Brett Kavanaugh.
Senator Whitehouse complains that these tips could have turned up incriminating information despite the mountain of evidence that already existed exonerating Kavanaugh.
The Whitehouse report made strong allegations, suggesting that President Trump and his staff exploited their authority to conceal serious misconduct. According to the report's claims, the administration's goal was to secure the advancement of Kavanaugh, a nominee they believed would significantly influence the Supreme Court's future rulings.
None of this is news to the GOP but for leftists, this has reignited outrage as many still believe Blasey Ford's swiss-cheese story.
