Taylor Swift wins fourth album of the year at Grammy Awards

Taylor Swift made Grammy Awards history by clinching her fourth Album Of The Year, a monumental achievement, especially as she concurrently announced the release of a new album on the same eventful night.

The 34-year-old songstress, recognized for her knack for surprises, earned the top honor for her album "Midnights."

The award

The prestigious accolade was presented by music icon Celine Dion during an unexpected appearance at the star-studded event held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Swift's victory was particularly notable considering the stiff competition from remarkable works by artists such as Boygenius, Janelle Monáe, Jon Batiste, Lana Del Rey, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, and SZA.

This win not only solidified Swift's status but also made her the first person in Grammy history to secure the Album Of The Year title four times, surpassing the record she had shared with legends Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra, and Paul Simon.

Her speech

In her acceptance speech, Swift graciously thanked friends and collaborators, with special mentions for producer Jack Antonoff and engineer Sam Dew.

Notably absent in her acknowledgments was her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, who is set to play in the upcoming Super Bowl. Swift also extended appreciation to Lana Del Rey, inviting her on stage and acknowledging her as a legacy artist and a current legend.

The crux of Swift's triumphant speech resonated with her profound love for music, spanning from the creative process in the recording studio to the exhilarating experience of performing on a global stage.

She emphasized that the true award is the culmination of the hard work and dedication she pours into her craft, expressing a heartfelt desire to continue creating and performing.

Cyrus and other winners

Earlier in the Grammy Awards ceremony, Swift added to her remarkable Grammy collection by securing her 13th award for Best Pop Vocal Album with "Midnights."

The evening took an unexpected turn when Swift, known for her secrecy, unveiled a surprise announcement. In a move that sent fans into a frenzy, she revealed that she had covertly worked on her 11th studio album, titled "The Tortured Poets Department," set to be released on April 19th.

The night also saw Miley Cyrus emerge as one of the most significant winners, claiming the coveted titles of Record Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for her hit track "Flowers."

The Grammy Awards 2024 not only showcased Taylor Swift's unwavering success but also hinted at an exciting and prolific future with the upcoming release of her new album.
