Sunny Hostin Compares January 6 Protest To WWII, Holocaust, And Slavery

Sunny Hostin, a legal analyst for ABC News, made the insane claim on "The View" that the January 6, 2021, Capitol protest was similar to WWII and other past events.

Breitbart reported that Hostin argued that the nation should not simply "move on" from the event, claiming it had a similar impact to other pivotal moments in U.S. history. She described the Capitol attack as "one of the worst moments" in the nation's history, invoking historical comparisons to emphasize its impact.

Hostin, like many leftists, believes that January 6th was a tragic day rivaling national atrocities like 9/11 and Pearl Harbor.

Now Hostin and those like her are angry that Americans are waking up to the hysterics and simply no longer care about the protest that happened four years ago and was far less impactful than the massive riots that took place all of Summer 2020.

Hyperbolic Comparisons

During her discussion, Hostin pointed out a change in attitudes among certain political figures after the attack on the Capitol. Initially, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell held former President Donald Trump accountable for inciting the violence. Yet, Hostin noted, there was an evident shift as McConnell and others seemingly distanced themselves from this initial stance.

Hostin's comments addressed a key component of her concern: the dangers of historical amnesia. She argued that forgetting such significant events could allow history to repeat itself, drawing parallels with past global atrocities such as World War II, the Holocaust, and slavery.

Moreover, Hostin referenced remarks made on "The View" by former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Rice had indicated that the nation should "move on" from the January 6 events, a notion Hostin firmly opposed. Hostin stressed that moving on without introspection or acknowledgment of these events' gravity could lead to a troubling loss of moral direction.

Hostin emphasized the necessity of maintaining "moral clarity" and acknowledging the attack's place in history as a cautionary tale.

She expressed concern that initial waves of accountability and moral clarity had given way to political expedience. In the aftermath of January 6, Hostin recalled statements made by public figures that initially affirmed the seriousness of the attack.

In this context, Hostin highlighted the value of steadfastness in the face of shifting political dynamics. She articulated a vision in which historical events are given their due consideration and critical reflection, rather than being hastily relegated to memory.

Importance Of Retaining Historical Memory

During her appearance on "The View," a key point Hostin made was that failure to properly remember incidents like January 6 could result in a loss of national moral integrity. Reflecting on past atrocities, Hostin remarked on the importance of never forgetting history's darkest chapters.

She warned against allowing the recurrence of events due to negligence or forgetfulness. Hostin's remarks underscored a broader call for responsibility in collective memory and historical education.

This all sounds great until you remember that Hostin is claiming that a protest that got out of control is being held up alongside genuine atrocities.

What makes January 6th an atrocity is the mass violation of January 6th protestors' civil rights. Hostin didn't once mention the political persecution Trump supporters have faced and yet wants Americans to care about the protest alongside terror attacks and wars that killed millions.
