Special counsel Jack Smith petitioning to have Trump silenced on election interference indictment

Special counsel Jack Smith has requested that Former President Donald Trump be silenced concerning the election interference case against him in order to allegedly prevent witness intimidation.

While Smith claims he is acting in the best interests of the American people, it is blatantly obvious that his desire to silence Trump would allow the media to better control the narrative around the case.

Trump has made it clear that he will get the truth to the American people via his social media and statements. Smith and the Democrat Party can't have Trump doing that if they want this indictment to stick.

Smith has petitioned U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan to prevent Trump from discussing details about sensitive case information and that Trump review all materials in the presence of lawyers.

Smith's petition even addresses Trump's past social media statements making it clear what Smith is really trying to do here. If Trump is gagged, Americans cannot get the truth about what is really happening in the indictment.

Naked censorship

Smith's team argued, "All the proposed order seeks to prevent is the improper dissemination or use of discovery materials, including to the public. Such a restriction is particularly important in this case because the defendant has previously issued public statements on social media regarding witnesses, judges, attorneys and others associated with legal matters pending against him."

In their eyes, there is nothing worse than "improper dissemination" of materials, especially to the American public.

Smith's team also added that Trump's statements "could have a harmful chilling effect on witnesses or adversely affect the fair administration of justice in this case."

That argument is especially ironic considering Trump is arguing to have his case moved because the case will be heard in Washington D.C. with a leftist judge who has repeatedly taken anti-Trump stances.

Trump's legal team is busy working on getting the trial moved precisely because the politics around this case have already "adversely affect[ed] the fair administration of justice in this case."

So Smith may get his gag order, but he has likely already strengthen Trump's argument to have the case moved, which would be disastrous for Smith.

Biased jury

Smith's only hope of obtaining a conviction is to get a jury that is willing to convict Trump regardless of the facts of the case.

This strategy has already had some success as a Manhattan jury found Trump liable of defaming a woman who accused him of rape. That same jury found Trump not guilty of the alleged rape meaning that they convicted him for rightfully defending himself from false accusations.

So Smith already has a strategy he can use to convict Trump, all he needs is a biased jury and a gag order to ensure the American people stay out of the loop.
