Speaker Mike Johnson responds to liberal media attacking his Christian beliefs

New House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is speaking out after liberal media has attacked his Christians beliefs.

Johnson shared his remarks during an interview on "Outnumbered" with co-host Kayleigh McEnany on Fox News.

The comments

"Look, there are entire industries that are built to take down public leaders – effective political leaders like me. I’m not surprised by that. I mean, it comes with the territory. It doesn’t bother me at all," Johnson responded.

"If you truly believe in the Bible’s commands, and you seek to follow those, it’s impossible to be a hateful person because the greatest command in the Bible is that you love God with everything you had, and you love your neighbor as yourself," he said.

A Bible-believing Christian

"But I also genuinely love all people regardless of their lifestyle choices. This is not about the people themselves. I am a Bible-believing Christian," he stated on "Hannity."

"Someone asked me today in the media, they said, 'It's curious, people are curious. What does Mike Johnson think about any issue under the sun?' I said, 'Well, go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it — that's my worldview.' That's what I believe, and so I make no apologies for it," he continued.

Gaetz approves

Even Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who led the push to remove Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) out of the speaker role, was united with Johnson in the new role.

"The House Republican Conference is UNITED for the first time this Congress. We are united behind a man of deep faith, who obeys God and the Constitution before all else," Gaetz posted to X.

"I’m proud to support our new Speaker Mike Johnson! I'm going to do everything I can to make him successful," he wrote.

Johnson's opponents may have attacked his beliefs but doing so has led to many people becoming bigger fans of the new speaker.

His conservative convictions appeal to a wide range of Americans, bringing new hope following the long battle over the GOP's House leadership.
