Vice President Kamala Harris recently claimed the southern border was "secure" despite the unprecedented number of illegal aliens coming into the U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) is calling her out on that bogus claim.
Manchin said Harris is "dead wrong" about border security and that additional measures are needed to stop the burgeoning crisis, Breitbart reported. The West Virginia Democrat made these remarks on Fox News Channel's "Special Report" Tuesday.
Host Bret Baier asked Manchin whether he believed Harris' claim that she made on "Meet the Press" Sunday that has received much pushback for being such a brazen lie, the New York Post reported. She even attempted to blame former President Donald Trump for the problems insisting that "the deterioration that happened over the last four years."
"It's wrong. She's dead wrong on that," Manchin said.
"And I have said this, if we don't secure — I voted every time for the wall. But we need the wall and a lot more, technology, more agents," Manchin continued.
"The 2013 immigration bill was still the best piece of legislation I think that we've ever had before us. We couldn't get it passed through the Republican House at that time because of some politics involved there and…people were shouting the word 'amnesty,'" he claimed.
The bill did provide amnesty, though it was supposed to be tempered both through the requirements to obtain the amnesty as well as border security, The Hill reported at the time. "That piece of legislation would have corrected everything we have going wrong," Manchin claimed.
"But for anybody, the Vice President, the President, anybody to say that our borders are secure, that is not accurate. I've been there. It's wrong," Manchin pointed out.
Harris was charged with fixing the problem at the border but has waffled between ignoring it and denying that it even exists. Now she's outright lying about it as illegal immigration surges out of control.
