Sen. Cruz calls upon DOJ to search new location in Joe Biden classified docs scandal

According to the New York Post, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is calling upon the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to search a new location in the ongoing classified documents scandal involving President Joe Biden.

The location is the University of Delaware.

Cruz's request comes after the most recent discovery of classified documents in Biden's possession. Initially, classified documents were found, just before the midterm elections, by Biden's lawyers at the Biden Penn Center in Washington D.C.

Since then, three separate batches of classified documents were found at Biden's Wilmington, Delaware, residence. The latest batch was found during a consensual search that was carried out at the residence - at the White House's request - by the DOJ.

Previously, the classified documents were reportedly all from Biden's time as vice president. But, during this search, Biden's personal attorney, Bob Bauer, revealed that the DOJ found classified documents from Biden's time as a U.S. Senator.

This fact clearly got Sen. Cruz thinking. And, it called to Cruz's mind the University of Delaware.

That's because Biden has some 1,850 boxes at the University of Delaware that are said to contain his Senate records.

Cruz, during a recent episode of his podcast, The Verdict, explained:

The next step in this scandal is going to be, OK, if Biden’s Senate documents include classified documents outside of classified settings — which is illegal — how many more classified documents are illegally in his Senate papers?

Cruz states that, one of the many reasons why this is significant, is that the university "presumably does not have [Biden's senate papers] in a SCIF [sensitive compartmented information facility]." In other words, Cruz said, "it does not have them in a secure location."

Cruz went on to note that this is not the first time that there have been calls to search Biden's senate papers. Back in 2020, Biden faced a similar call after he was accused of sexual harassment by a former employee.

Members of the media called upon Biden to allow his senate papers - the ones being kept at the university - to be examined for the sake of transparency.

But, Biden refused.

Cruz, during his podcast, said:

I am right now calling for the Department of Justice, for the FBI to examine all 1,850 boxes of those Senate records to see how many additional classified documents are in those records. The answer should be none. But given Biden’s pattern, we should have zero reason to have any confidence that there are not multiple classified documents within those 1,850 boxes of Senate records.

It, indeed, does seem like a safe bet.
