"A witness asserted the police officers questioning Menendez’s wife seemed to be aware of who she was and gave her preferential treatment as a result, according to the NYT. The police reports suggest authorities did not test Menendez’s wife for drugs or alcohol," the Daily Caller reported.
“It is determined that at this time [she] was not at fault for the motor vehicle crash and that Mr. Koop was jaywalking,” the Bogota Police Department sergeant reported.

"Koop’s sister, Rosemarie Koop-Angelicola, told The New York Times that they never heard from Nadine Menendez or the senator, and suspected that the case was deliberately kept quiet," Politico reported.
“Definitely a lack of legal enthusiasm to take this case, definite lack of media coverage, and a lack of communication by the authorities of Bergen County. We felt that the whole thing was very silently swept under the rug,” she said.
The information about the car accident comes as Menendez faces multiple charges related to allegations of bribery after thousands of dollars in cash and gold bars were found in his home.
Menendez has claimed no wrongdoing, stating that the money and gold were kept there for emergencies.
The investigation continues to discover additional interesting information as time goes by in the case that has even led several Democrats to call for Menendez to resign.
