Sen. Bob Menendez and wife face multiple federal bribery charges

Democrats have a massive problem on their hands, and his name is Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ).

According to Breitbart, the New Jersey senator was recently indicted on a number of serious bribery charges along with his wife and multiple business partners.

The indictment, announced Friday, alleges the senator accepted bribes from the businessmen named "in exchange for using Menendez’s power and influence as a Senator."

There have been multiple calls from major Democratic players, including New Jersey's governor and several Democratic congressman for Menendez to step down from his seat.

The New York Times detailed the charges faced by Menendez and his wife.

"Conspiracy to Commit Bribery in violation of Section 201(b)(2)(A) and (C) under Title 18 of the U.S. Code, Conspiracy to Commit Honest Service Fraud under Sections 1343 and 1346 of Title 18 of the U.S. Code, and Conspiracy to Commit Extortion Under Color of Official Right under Section 1951(b)(2) and Section 1951(b)(3) of Title 18," the report read.

The codefendants listed include "Wael Hana, Jose Uribe, and Fred Daibes."

U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams announced the shocking charges on Friday.

Even details of the federal raid at the senator's residence were shocking, and sounded as if they were right out of a Hollywood gangster movie.

"When they got there, they discovered approximately $500,000 of cash stuffed into envelopes in closets. Some of the cash was stuffed in the senator’s jacket pockets. Some of the cash some of the envelopes of cash contained Daibes fingerprints, the Daibes DNA. That’s not all. Agents also discovered a lot of gold, gold that was provided by Dabies and Hanna, and the FBI of course found the Mercedes Benz that Uribe had provided them."

Gov. Phil Murphy (D), Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) and many more within his own party have called for Menendez to resign.

So far, he has refused. Many believe that the intense pressure will soon change his mind. Only time will tell.
