Donald Trump has just scored another major win on the Supreme Court.
The Court has greenlit the firings of several Democrat-appointed board members.
This will allow Trump to continue to push his agenda forward without interference from Obama and Biden loyalists.
When Trump took office, he made it quite clear that he would do everything in his power to remove obstructionists who could impact his administration.
Let’s call it a tough lesson learned from the first administration, which led to Trump firing three Democrat-appointed officials from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
After Trump made his announcement, a group of Democrats led by Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) protested, writing, “We write to express serious concern regarding your intention to fire the three Democratic Commissioners from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). This move compromises the ability of the federal government to apply data-driven product safety rules to protect Americans nationwide, away from political influence.
“We urge you to immediately reverse this order and allow the three Democratic CPSC Commissioners to continue their work to protect consumers, especially children and families, from hazardous products.”
The Supreme Court did not agree with the Democrats, who were leaning on a decades-old ruling called Humphrey’s Executor, which restricted such firings to the administration’s ability to show cause.
As one would expect, the court ruling fell along ideological lines, 6-3, but the fact that Justice Roberts and all three Trump appointments were in line on this makes me feel very comfortable that the Court got this right.
It also brings into question why the lower courts are getting all these rulings wrong, but I think we all know the answer to that.
While not all rulings against Trump have been from activist judges, I think it has been proven that it is happening far too many times, and I hope complaints are being filed to keep track in an effort to have them removed from the bench.
Since late in Trump’s first term, the Court has been significantly underwater in approval ratings, but we are finally starting to see that change.
I believe this is because conservatives have been disheartened by the Court, but Trump is winning far more of these cases going before the Supreme Court than most of us imagined, so the disenfranchised appear to be coming back to the Court.
In the latest poll from Fox News, the court is sitting at a 47% approval rating, which is a double-digit improvement from the last poll. This is also the highest rating since the Court was above water in July 2020 (54%).
This makes me quite happy, considering how much flak Justice Roberts has been taking from MAGA over recent court rulings. Even though there are people who are upset with him, it does appear that conservatives are starting to come back around to the court. This, my friends, is great news.
