So far, the Mamdani movement has been somewhat stifled in the Democrat Party. He was struggling for endorsements, and some Democrats came right out to say that Mandani is not part of “their” Democrat Party.
Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has been part of that resistance, but he now seems to be cracking.
Schumer was very coy during the election, and he did not want to be tied to Mamdani and his extreme policies.
In fact, Schumer never endorsed Mamdani during the mayoral election in New York City.
This was a sore spot for many of Mamdani’s supporters, and he was called out for it by Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and AOC.
Abigail Spanberger, the Democratic candidate who just won the election in Virginia, also took a shot at Mamdani. When she was asked to comment on people saying Mamdani is now the soul of the Democrat Party, she responded, “Then maybe he should be a Democrat.”
The resistance did not back down during the election, either, as Schumer refused to reveal who he had voted for in the race.
When Schumer was asked who he voted for, he again sidestepped the issue, stating, “I voted and I look forward to working with the next mayor to help New York City.”
There were other Democrats who refused to get anywhere near Mamdani during this race.
For instance, Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) was the first to take the approach of Spanberger, outright saying that Mamdani was not even a Democrat, and he was not the future of the party.
Schumer, suddenly, has nothing but love for Mamdani. After the results were announced, Schumer stated, “This morning, I talked with Mayor-elect Mamdani. We had a very, very good conversation. We said that we cared about New York City and that we look forward to working together to help the city and improve the city.
“I congratulated him on running a very, very good campaign. And the issue that he is stressed is being stressed by Democrats across the country from one end of America to the other. The high costs that the Trump administration is imposing on us and their failure to do anything about it.”
Mamdani is going to be putting a lot of pressure on establishment Democrats to back his plan, and if they don’t, AOC and Mamdani will likely have them primaried when their next election cycle comes up.
This movement is energized, and politicians are always about survival, so it will be very interesting to see who holds firm and who gives in if Mamdani really starts to generate more momentum. Trust me, this is a dangerous man who cannot be taken lightly. Remember, the enemy always infiltrates from within, and that is how I view this socialist movement trying to take over our country.
