Ryan Seacrest will succeed Pat Sajak as the presenter of Wheel of Fortune, a long-running game program. Producers announced on Tuesday that 48-year-old Seacrest will succeed Sajak as host following his retirement.

Seacrest will make his debut as the host of the 2024 season 42 premiere, as Breitbart News reported.

“It’s official! Starting in 2024 @ryanseacrest will take the stage as the new host of Wheel of Fortune. We’re so excited – Welcome Ryan!” a post reads on the Wheel of Fortune official Instagram.

Seacrest will also function as the show's consulting producer. The soon-to be host spoke out about his upcoming position saying, "I can't wait to continue the tradition of spinning the wheel and work alongside the legendary Vanna White."

“I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak,” Seacrest said in a statement. “I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them.”

“Pat, I love the way you’ve always celebrated the contestants and made viewers at home feel at ease,” he added. “I look forward to learning everything I can from you during this transition.”

Previously, Seacrest anchored the musical competition, American Idol. Since 2005, he has also hosted Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve alongside Ryan Seacrest.

Earlier this month, Sajak announced his retirement from Wheel of Fortune. Season 41, his final season, will premiere in September. Sajak and Vanna White have co-hosted Wheel of Fortune since the show's inception in 1983.

Sajak also spoke about Seacrest's appointment, saying on June 28., "I’m looking forward to my final season starting this fall, and then handing over the car keys to Ryan Seacrest in September of 2024."
