Russia has been testing the waters for some time in regard to how far it goes with Ukraine.
It has been escalating its attacks, now blatantly violating the airspace of NATO allies.
To me, it sounds like this administration has had enough, and it is ready to drop the hammer to make sure this does not get out of hand.
I believe Russia tested the waters when it conducted a strike in Ukraine about a mile from the border of Romania. When nothing happened, Russia escalated.
Soon thereafter, another drone strike was ordered, but the drones reportedly entered Poland’s airspace.
Poland’s foreign minister, Radosław Sikorski, was livid, stating, “Interestingly, they were all duds, which suggests to me that Russia tried to test us without starting a war.”
Russia denied the drones were theirs, suggesting a possible false flag operation, but that was quickly debunked. The drones were eventually traced back to Russia, as well as being revealed that the drones were duds, which convinced me even more this was Russia testing the waters.
The next escalation was Russian fighter jets spending more than 10 minutes in Estonian airspace.
According to the reports, Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal stated, "Nato's response to any provocation must be united and strong".
"We consider it essential to consult with our allies to ensure shared situational awareness and to agree on our next joint steps,"
When Trump was initially asked about the violation, he responded, "I don't love it. I don't like when that happens. Could be big trouble."
Now, the Trump administration is making it very clear that Russia needs to scale it back.
When Trump was asked if NATO allies should shoot down Russian planes if they commit another blatant airspace violation, he immediately responded in the affirmative. Trump also backed Ukraine without hesitation, stating that NATO would defend Ukraine at all costs. It was the first time I have never heard Trump this committed to this war, which could be disappointing to some of his supporters.
Ambassador Waltz responded, "The United States stands by our NATO allies in the face of these airspace violations, and I want to take this first opportunity to repeat and to emphasize the United States and our allies will defend every inch of NATO territory.”
I truly hope that Putin is listening because if he keeps going down this road, he will wind up starting World War III.
