RFK Jr. visits southern U.S. border for second time, slams Biden's 'pettiness'

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is prioritizing an issue that his former party seemingly keeps ignoring -- the immigration crisis at the southern U.S. border.

According to NewsNation, he recently received a crash course on what's happening at the southern border and how Border Patrol and other law enforcement agencies feel about the issues overall.

Part of the reason for his trip was to help drum up enough support to be listed on the Arizona ballot for the 2024 election.

RFK Jr. has been to the border in the past and compared to President Joe Biden, is much more knowledgeable and empathetic as to what's going on at the ground level.

Shocking info

The independent candidate was briefed on some of the tactics used that result in illegal migrants being taken further into the country. NewsNation's Ali Bradley was in attendance at a round table discussion where Border Patrol agents briefed the presidential candidate on the state of what's happening.

RFK Jr. was reportedly shocked to learn that 10 migrants could fit in a Ford Focus to be transported to other cities.

He was also reportedly stunned to learn that some of the drivers taking the migrants further into the country are as young as 12 years old, and have led to an increased number of police pursuits, which places the migrants, police officers and the general public in danger.

Kennedy Jr. was shown various sections of the border wall and other tactics used to mitigate the flow of illegals.

According to the Washington Examiner, RFK Jr. slammed President Biden during his second trip to the border, calling out his "pettiness" in reversing former President Donald Trump's border policies that actually worked.

He also labeled the border situation an "existential threat to our country."

Petition launched

The presidential candidate also used his border trip to announce a petition to force President Biden to pay closer attention to the crisis-level immigration situation.

"The humanitarian crisis at the border and the influx that’s coming in is an existential threat to our country and our values," he said.

The Examiner noted:

In moving in on Trump’s signature topic, Kennedy is boosting the border as a way to gain support for his insurgent campaign. In recent polls, Kennedy has been gaining by taking support from Biden and helping to widen Trump’s lead over the president.

While the Biden campaign continues to downplay RFK Jr.'s status in the election, polls show that when he's included in hypothetical match ups, he takes more votes away from Biden than Trump.
