It's increasingly becoming clear that there is a systemic problem with the FBI. Kentucky Republican Rep. James Comer believes it's time to do something about it.
Comer believes FBI leadership should "resign" among charges of partisan politicization, Breitbart reported. The GOP lawmaker, who is vying for House Oversight Committee chairman, made these remarks on Fox News Sunday.
During an interview on the network's "Sunday Morning Futures" with Maria Bartiromo, Comer said in no uncertain terms that top FBI brass needs to resign. "Obviously, it depends on who's on the commission," he began.
"But we have a huge problem with the FBI. And the fact is, the American people have lost confidence in the FBI," Comer pointed out.
"It's been politicized for at least six years now. And it's going in the wrong direction," Comer continued. "Every day, another report comes out that's more damaging to the FBI. We certainly need to reform the FBI," Comer said.
"We certainly need new leadership at the top," he added. "But the encouraging thing, Maria, is, there are dozens of FBI agents who are coming forward to Jim Jordan and other members of Congress to try to blow the whistle on wrongdoing at the FBI," Comer said, referring to the Ohio Republican who serves on the House Oversight Committee.
Still, Comer tempered his remarks by acknowledging the agency isn't all bad. "I think the majority of the FBI agents in America want to do a good job," Comer said.
"And we honestly need an FBI. But we don't need the leadership we have now. They should resign. They should be held accountable for wrongdoing. And we have got to repair and reform the FBI moving forward," Comer concluded.
There certainly have been several questionable moves made by the FBI, from the recent Trump raid to ignoring President Joe Biden's corrupt family. Comer is right that they need to clean house, mainly because it is such a necessary institution.
