California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom reportedly plans to run for president in 2024 if President Joe Biden does not, according to a report by The Wrap.
The outlet referred to an unnamed source close to Newsom who shared that he will "absolutely" run if the president chooses not to run for a second term.

"Since Roe v. Wade was overturned, Newsom has been launching ad campaigns in several Republican-run states – challenging their new restrictions on abortion and inviting women there to receive abortions in California," the Daily Caller reported.
"He has also clashed with Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida and, after the latter flew migrants from the southern border to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, challenged him to a debate," it added.

The rumors surrounding a Newsom run also point to the importance of a strong response by conservatives in 2024. If Biden doesn't run, a strong push by Newsom will require a strong voter turnout by Republicans to win.
The latest speculation will continue until Biden officially decides on his run, a move that will like come shortly after the November midterms.
