What is the purpose of opening the borders? That has always been the burning question.
The first reason would be to improve census numbers to offer more seats in Congress to certain states. The second would be to turn those illegal immigrants into voters at some point.
A new report from Pew Research has shed some light on the latter.
When Kamala Harris was running for president, she sat for an interview with Fox News’ Brett Baier.
She touted a piece of legislation called the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021.
Harris stated, "At the beginning of our administration, within practically hours of taking the oath, the first bill that we offered Congress – before we worked on infrastructure, before the Inflation Reduction Act, before the Chips and Science Act, before the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act -- the first bill, practically within hours of taking the oath, was a bill to fix our immigration system.”
If Harris had her way, virtually every illegal immigrant in this country would have had a path to citizenship and the right to vote. And just where do you think those 11 million votes would have landed?
A report from a House committee in January 2024 offered up more information about just how many illegals had been admitted to the country under Joe Biden’s watch.
With a full year left in the administration, there were roughly 6.7 illegals who had been released.
Most of us would probably agree this was a rather conservative number, especially when you consider gotaways.
Over and above the issues we listed above, the report dove into the fiscal, economic, and social consequences of this influx of bodies into the country. It is rather disturbing to read when you have the opportunity.
When we look at the impact of illegals in terms of the census, meaning congressional seats, it is not as bad as one would think.
Where this really comes into play, however, is the swing states, meaning voters, as the Pew Research report showed that more than one million illegals have been released to these critical jurisdictions.
What is even more troublesome is that roughly 450,000 of them are still in Texas, a state where the GOP regularly dominates federal elections. Even that is not enough to swing a presidential election, but it could impact a Senate race and would surely impact a local election.
Most estimates I have seen heading into 2025 have stated there are about 22 million illegals in the country right now, double the number from when Joe Biden first took office. And this is exactly why Donald Trump wants to track every one of them and remove them from this country.
