Rep. Jamaal Bowman pleads guilty to pulling fire alarm, strikes deal with prosecutor

The radical progressive "Squad" took another embarrassing his this week after one of its own was forced to make a deal to avoid serious charges.

According to the Washington Examiner, Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) pleaded guilty recently to purposely pulling a fire alarm at the U.S. Capitol, which happened as the House convened for a crucial spending bill vote to avoid a partial government shutdown.

The Examiner noted:

Bowman will pay a $1,000 fine after he was charged with a misdemeanor in Washington, D.C., Superior Court with "willfully and knowingly" giving a "false alarm of a fire," in violation of city code.

As part of his plea deal, Bowman will pay the fine and write an apology letter to the Capitol Police chief. He will have his charges dropped after three months, assuming he meets his end of the deal and doesn't commit another offense.

His sentencing hearing is scheduled for Jan. 29, 2024, but it will likely be canceled assuming he upholds his part of the deal.

If something else were to happen to void that deal, Bowman could face up to six months in prison.

Bowman, clearly humiliated over the incident, has attempted to brush it off several times after initially denying he committed the offense. Reporters cornered him and asked why he made the deal after claiming he was "innocent."

"Listen, you know, I pulled the fire alarm and I did not do it to disrupt a court proceeding, like I said. I was trying to get out the door. I was rushing to a vote," he said. "I'm thankful that we have an agreement in place. I'm thankful in three months it's gonna be dismissed, and now let's move on," Bowman said.

Shortly after the juvenile incident, Bowman told reporters, "I don't know why this has gotten so much attention. I was literally just in a rush to go vote, man! That's all it was!"

In recent days, new video footage has emerged clearly showing Bowman removing the warning signs next to the fire alarm switch at the Capitol building, leading to even more embarrassment for the Democratic Party and especially fellow Squad members.

Social media users torched the progressive Squad member, with some noting his past career as a principal -- someone who knows all too well what a fire alarm looks like.

"A past principal is supposed to have integrity. This was a political stunt to delay the vote. If you can't decipher what a fire alarm to a door handle is, then you need to resign," one X user wrote.
