As former President Donald Trump continues to dominate polling in the race for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, speculation has grow as to who he might select as his running mate.
As Breitbart reported, Republican Rep. Byron Donalds, a popular lawmaker within Trump's massive base of support, said if he received the call for a VP slot, he's in.
"If it came up? Oh yeah, of course, because you have the opportunity to do really powerful things for the country and really help shape the country,” Donalds said, when asked by Breitbart if he'd accept the job.
The 44-year-old lawmaker added, "But I’m a member of Congress. I just do my job. I let everybody else speculate on the other stuff."

The outlet added:
Having gone from being raised by a single mother in Brooklyn’s inner city to becoming one of five black Republicans in Congress, Donalds is widely viewed as a rising star among his party.
Donalds, a popular Republican who sits on powerful committees in the lower chamber, has received overwhelming support from many of his GOP colleagues, including Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN).
"Retweet this if you think my friend @RepDonaldsPress @ByronDonalds would make a great choice for Vice President," Burchett tweeted.

Others, like Rep. Cory Mills, stated that he believes Donalds would be "someone who would really be a nice balance for President Trump."
Mills, also known for his candid and blunt media interviews, added: "He's probably one of the more competent members that you’ll find throughout all of Congress."
Social media users also announced their support for the possibility of Donalds running with Trump in the 2024 election.

Trump's pick for his vice president has been speculated on since before his formal announcement earlier this year, with many believing strongly that he'll likely select a female candidate, of which there are several possibilities. Only time will tell who Trump ultimately selects, but undoubtedly it'll be the biggest news of the 2024 campaign cycle so far.
