Protestor charged for vandalizing Nancy Pelosi's House

A protestor is facing felony charges for allegedly having vandalized U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi's (D-CA) house.

The protestor, according to the San Francisco Standard, has been identified as Heather Phipps.

Phipps is a pro-Palestinian activist, and, as such, she is not happy with Pelosi's support of Israel in its war against Hamas.

The Standard reports that Phipps is also associated with Code Pink, which, on its website, states:

Israel’s occupation and annexation of Palestine isn’t just cruel and inhumane, it’s illegal under international law. Join us in demanding justice, equality, and freedom for the Palestinian people.

The "vandalism"

The incident took place at Pelosi's San Francisco, California, residence on Feb. 11, 2024.

"The activist, Heather Phipps, is accused of damaging Pelosi’s garage door along with city streets and sidewalks outside the Pacific Heights home she shares with her husband, Paul Pelosi," the Standard reports.

The outlet adds, "A spokesperson for the Department of Public Works said it incurred $5,648 in cleanup costs, largely involving paint on the sidewalk, roadway and street trees. Phipps is set to be arraigned on March 12."

Phipps is now facing two felony counts of vandalism.

A second protestor - Cynthia Papermaster - was also arrested for her involvement in the incident. Papermaster, however, is only facing a misdemeanor vandalism charge "for leaving handprints on Pelosi’s garage," the Standard reports. Papermaster is also reported to be associated with Code Pink.

Background

Pelosi and pro-Palestinian activists have been clashing in recent months.

The Daily Caller reports:

This is not the first time Pelosi has been confronted by Code Pink protesters. The former House speaker told protesters who crowded around her vehicle Oct. 29, 2023 to “Go back to China, where your headquarters is” in a video which went viral in January 2024 . . .

Pelosi, for her part, has not backed away from her pro-Israel messaging. She, in fact, has even admonished pro-Palestinian protestors, and, at one point, she even called for the FBI to investigate them, claiming that they might be linked to Russia.

Referring to pro-Palestinian protestors, Pelosi, in January, said:

For them to call for a cease-fire is Mr. Putin’s message, Mr. Putin’s message. Make no mistake, this is directly connected to what he would like to see. Same thing with Ukraine. It’s about Putin’s message. I think some of these protesters are spontaneous and, organic and sincere. Some are connected to Russia. I say that having looked at this for a long time.

Pelosi has been heavily criticized for this statement.
