On Sunday, Fox News confirmed that the U.S. Secret Service had evacuated the White House grounds after it discovered an "unknown item" in the White House.
"On Sunday evening, the White House complex went into a precautionary closure as officers from the Secret Service uniformed division investigated an unknown item found inside a work area," Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said.
He added: "The DC fire department was called to evaluate and quickly determined the item to be non-hazardous. The item was sent for further evaluation and an investigation into the cause and manner of how it entered the White House is pending."
According to ABC News, sources said they heard first responders on the radios referring to a white, powdery substance.
More radio chatter, according to sources, revealed that the substance tested positive for cocaine hydrochloride. "We have a result on the [inaudible]" a voice on the radio could be heard saying. "We have a yellow bar stating cocaine hydrochloride."
Notably, the Secret Service gave the media the silent treatment when asked whether or not there had been West Wing tours over the past week, as that's where the cocaine powder was discovered.
"These are details that are pertinent to our investigation and not something we can get into," the Secret Service responded.
The powder was reportedly sent to a Secret Service lab for further testing, and the White House remained silent on the matter as well, referring reporters' questions back to the Secret Service.
Social media, however, lit up when news broke that essentially a bag of cocaine was discovered in the White House, especially with the backdrop of President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, being a known cocaine addict.
"On this July 4th, it has been confirmed that the white powder found on Sunday in the White House has tested positive to be cocaine. Is this rock bottom yet or how much worse is it going to get?," Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted.

Only time will tell if further investigation reveals where the alleged cocaine came from or how it got there, but don't get your hopes up.
