'Porky's' actor Tony Ganios dies at the age of 64

Tony Ganios, renowned for his role in the 1981 comedy classic "Porky's," has tragically passed away at the age of 64.

Confirmation of Ganios' unexpected demise on February 18 was provided by his fiancée, Amanda Ganios.

The surgery

Amanda recounted that Ganios underwent a sudden four-hour emergency surgery for a spinal cord infection on Saturday.

While the surgical procedure initially appeared to be successful, complications arose the following day. Ganios required dialysis and subsequently went into cardiac arrest.

"I just love him so much," she conveyed to Fox News Digital. "I don't know how else I can express it."

“It's just unreal to me right now. It was so fast. He hadn't felt well and hid it from me for days. When he finally told me, and was taken to the hospital, his spinal cord was severely infected. They did surgery, next morning, his heart stopped. I'm crushed." she separately told People.

"I'm just completely empty inside now. He was my best friend, my soul mate. I just love him so much," it continued.

His background

Ganios gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Meat Tuperello in "Porky's," a raunchy comedy that swiftly amassed a devoted fanbase and spawned multiple sequels, including "Porky's II: The Next Day" and "Porky's Revenge!"

Throughout his illustrious career, Ganios showcased his acting prowess in a variety of films. He appeared in notable works such as "The Wanderers" (1979), "Continental Divide" (1981), "Back Roads" (1981), and "Die Hard 2" (1990). Additionally, Ganios graced the small screen with his presence, featuring in television shows like "The Equalizer," "The Ring of the Musketeers," and "Wiseguy."

Despite his extensive contributions to the entertainment industry, Ganios seemingly retreated from the limelight in the '90s. His final film credit is documented as "Rising Sun" in 1993, according to IMDb.
