The relationship between Donald Trump and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is not something I have ever understood or approved of.
With any luck, we won’t have to worry about it much longer, as Graham appears as though his primary race may not be the automatic win it usually is.
For MAGA, you must have complete and utter loyalty to Trump, or you are going to get blasted.
That takes us back to January 2025, when Graham questioned Trump for pardoning all of the J6 defendants, stating, “No. 1, he had the legal authority to do it. But I fear that you will get more violence.
“Pardoning the people who went into the Capitol and beat up a police officer, violently, I think, was a mistake because it seems to suggest that’s an OK thing to do.”
On this particular point, Graham and I agreed, which is rare, and I think I took just as much grief as he did, only I am not a Senator. This made Graham a marked man, and it was comments like this that put a target on his head and created outrage among Trump supporters just a few months later.
Just two months later, Donald Trump endorsed Graham for his upcoming Senate race.
Trump posted, "Senator Lindsey Graham has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election...Everyone in South Carolina should help Lindsey have a BIG WIN next year!"
One of the organizers of the January 6 rally responded, "Love Trump & this changes nothing. But he is wrong on this endorsement. The American people are tired of this RINO in South Carolina."
That was pretty typical of Trump supporters, who wanted to find someone to primary Graham and have him removed from office.
Graham usually rolls in his races, but that is not necessarily the case this time around, as Mark Lynch, a local businessman, is starting to get some grip in the race.
In current polling, Graham is sitting at 43%, with Lynch already at 29%. Now that is a big lead until you look at a couple of different factors.
First and foremost, nobody knows who Lynch is, so that could all change rather dramatically if some big money gets behind his campaign. Second, 57% of likely voters in the primary said they would NOT vote for Graham. On top of that, there were still 28% unsure in the polling, which is more than enough to flip this race if they like Lynch once they get to know more about him.
You guys all know I despise this man, and I would love to see him removed from office, so let’s start checking out Lynch and see if he is worthy of our support.
