A suspect in the alleged sexual assault of former Arizona Republican Sen. Martha McSally was arrested.
Police apprehended Dominic Henton, 25, from Papillion, Nebraska, charging him with assault with intent to commit sexual abuse.

"I was just sexually assaulted while out running," McSally wrote in the caption under the video, according to the Washington Post.
"I am safe. I am ok. It could have been much worse. I have a lot to process. For anyone else who has been assaulted, speak up. Find your power. Process it emotionally, spiritually, neurologically. I am safe," she added.

"Henton was taken into custody by the Omaha Police Department around 3:20 a.m. local time on Friday, Council Bluffs police said," ABC News reported.
"Omaha police initially responded to his home on Thursday after Henton made a welfare call, according to Council Bluffs Police Sgt. Ted Roberts. Omaha officers were unaware of the arrest warrant in Council Bluffs at the time, since it had not been fully processed, and took Henton to the hospital, he said," it continued.

"Investigators released images they say show Henton following McSally 'eastbound over the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge and then southbound onto the trail,'" according to Fox News.
"Senator McSally can be seen walking in front of Henton in the photos," the Council Bluffs Police Department said.
McSally previously served in Congress before being appointed to the U.S. Senate in 2020 following the death of Sen. John McCain.
The former congresswoman was later defeated in a special election by Democrat Mark Kelly, who now represents Arizona as a senator.
McSally's boldness to speak out about the incident led to a strong law enforcement response. The alleged attacker has now been apprehended and is behind bars, leaving his future fate to the courts in the concerning incident involving the former senator from Arizona who was visiting Iowa.
